Gene : LOC106799842 Homo sapiens

Name  ? nonconserved acetylation island sequence 101 enhancer Cytological Location  6p21.3
description  This region, which is poorly conserved between human and mouse at the sequence level, can function as an enhancer in human Jurkat T cells. It is located in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) region of chromosome 6, with several haplotypes of this region represented in the GRCh38 reference genome assembly. The chromatin structure of this region represents a histone acetylation island in human T cells based on the diacetylation of histone H3 at lysines 9 and 14. An adjacent overlapping sequence was also validated as a functional enhancer by high-throughput massively parallel reporter assays (MPRAs) in both liver carcinoma HepG2 cells and erythroleukemia K562 cells. That enhancer region contains a motif for the NFE2L2 activator, and mutation of the motif results in reduced enhancer activity. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2017]
