Gene : 113225349 Homo sapiens

Description  This nonconserved genomic region, which is located in an intron of the CTTNBP2 (cortactin binding protein 2) gene in the greater CFTR locus on chromosome 7, can function as both a silencer and an enhancer-blocking element. It was shown to modestly repress an SV40 promoter coupled to the HS2 beta-globin enhancer in transfected K562 and 293T cells when present in the forward orientation in the reporter construct. When positioned between the enhancer and promoter, it modestly blocked HS2 enhancer activation of an SV40 promoter in both K562 and 293T cells (in forward orientation), and also HS2 enhancer activation of a gamma-globin promoter in K562 cells (in reverse orientation).
